Board of Governors

Meet Our Board of Governors

At Gorran Primary School, we are proud to be supported by a dedicated and passionate Board of Governors who work tirelessly behind the scenes to help shape the future of our school. Their commitment to our shared vision—that every child feels safe, happy, and empowered to achieve their full potential—is at the heart of everything they do.

Operating under the Scheme of Management of the Education Authority for Northern Ireland, our Governors are elected every four years. The current term runs until 2028.

The Board plays a vital role in the strategic leadership and effective management of the school. Their responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the curriculum
  • Appointing staff
  • Managing admissions
  • Supporting pupil welfare and discipline
  • Overseeing school finances and buildings

Our Governors work closely with the Principal and staff to ensure that Gorran PS continues to be a place where children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Their support helps us maintain high standards while nurturing the warm, family atmosphere that makes our school so special.

“It is a privilege to serve as Chair of the Board of Governors at Gorran Primary School. As a team, we are committed to supporting the school’s vision of creating a safe, caring, and inspiring environment where every child is encouraged to flourish. We are proud of the strong sense of community that exists at Gorran, and we work closely with the Principal and staff to ensure that every decision we make puts the needs of the children first. Whether it’s through curriculum development, staff appointments, or enhancing our facilities, our goal is always the same—to give every pupil the best possible start in life. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our school. We look forward to continuing to support Gorran PS as it grows and thrives in the years ahead.”
