Gorran Primary School, Coleraine

Eco Council

Gorran Primary School attained their Green Flag in May 2018.  At Gorran we are enthusiastic about reducing, reusing and recycling in our environment. We are proud to have a school Eco Committee made up of representatives from P1 to P7, voted on by their peers. These representatives voice ideas and concerns, learn how to take minutes and report back to their own classes decisions that are made during meetings.

Being involved in the Eco Committee develops confidence, self-esteem and an awareness of looking after our environment.

Some of our recent achievements involve:

Renewing the globally recognised "Green Flag" in January 2020

Recycling tyres and pallets to help create our “Wellie Woods” which is an outdoor learning space (with the help of our talented parents)

The planting of our own raised flower beds

The addition of solar panels

Hedgehog house, bird boxes, bird feeders/table etc.
