Child Protection Safeguarding

🛡️ Safeguarding & Child Protection at Gorran Primary School

At Gorran Primary School, we are fully committed to ensuring that every child feels safe, secure, and valued. Safeguarding is at the heart of our school community, and we work proactively to create an environment where children can thrive—emotionally, socially, and academically.

Our Safeguarding Team plays a vital role in promoting a culture of care and vigilance. They are trained to respond swiftly and sensitively to any concerns, and they work closely with staff, families, and external agencies to ensure the wellbeing of every pupil.

If you have any concerns about a child’s safety or wellbeing, please contact a member of our Safeguarding Team as soon as possible.

📚 Our Preventative Curriculum

We believe that safeguarding is not just about responding to concerns—it's also about prevention and education. Our preventative curriculum helps pupils develop the knowledge and confidence to keep themselves safe in a variety of situations. This includes:

  • PANTS Workshops with P1 and 2 teaching: Privates are private, Always remember your body belongs to you, No means no, Talk about secrets that upset you, and Speak up, someone can help.
  • Assemblies on topics such as online safety, anti-bullying, and personal safety.
  • Visits from the NSPCC speak out stay safe programme.
  • A transition programme for our Year 7 pupils, supporting them emotionally and practically as they prepare for post-primary school.

💬 Pastoral Support & Emotional Wellbeing

Our Pastoral Team is here to support the emotional wellbeing of all pupils. One of the key programmes we offer is Drawing and Talking—a gentle, therapeutic approach that helps children express their feelings, build self-esteem, and develop resilience in a safe and supportive space.

We are proud of the caring, family atmosphere at Gorran PS, and we are committed to ensuring that every child feels heard, supported, and safe—every single day.
